Everything I know about getting on health-tech panels

Speaking gigs are priority for most. But how do you swing one?

Today, I grabbed coffee with one of the most important people in health-tech and also one of the most under-the-radar: Jody Tropeano. She’s been running content and programming at HLTH since the first year, and it’s grown significantly since she started. HLTH is low-key one of the biggest success stories in our space.

We had a lot to talk about, given that HLTH is about to announce its theme and launch its application for speakers (that’ll happen on May 1). She and I have both been involved with conference programming throughout our careers. For two years now, I’ve co-chaired another important health conference - Fortune Brainstorm Health - with my friend, the Lux investor Deena Shakir. And way back in the day, I helped VentureBeat with its first health-tech conference HealthBeat.

Both Jody and I are often asked about how people in our network can build their brand through speaking opportunities. This is a topic that we could literally talk about for hours. So I figured I’d write this guide for those of you who have it on their ‘to-do’ list for the year to get onto more panels in 2024. One of my goals is to help people get visibility who wouldn’t ordinarily be represented on stage.
