More than a third of consumers use AI and social media for health info, survey says
As we wait for AI’s complete annihilation of the human race within the next decade (a more than 10% chance(!!), according to Anthropic researchers), the Consumer Tech Association is releasing a new standard for using predictive AI in health care. That way, maybe AI won’t destroy us while we’re getting a routine annual exam.
In tandem, the organization, which represents 1,200 large and small tech companies, has released a survey that gets into the details of how those 40 million people that use ChatGPT to answer their everyday health care questions are actually using it. And while consumers are using AI for health issues, they are wary of it too.
Why it matters: A key category of health tech companies think AI can be used to handle myriad medical issues for patients. But these visions for the future of health care don’t necessarily consider how patients want to use AI.
